Somer Valley Wheels

The Somer Valley Wheels initiative has recently been awarded £9,983 from the Awards for All programme (Lottery grants for local groups). The primary aim of the project will be to promote a healthier lifestyle for adults within the Norton Radstock and surrounding area and will provide guided cycle rides as a form of gentle exercise for older adults. The guided rides will use the existing cycle route, The Collier’s Way, to provide a safe environment for all participants. The cycle rides and training opportunities will be suitable for a range of ages and abilities from those who want to return to cycling as well as young adults who want to improve their fitness and confidence.

The scheme will be up and running by April 2007 and it is anticipated that booking will be available through several local outlets in Norton Radstock. Anyone over the age of 18 years can apply and participants will be encouraged to sign up for a minimum of six rides after an initial session however the charge for the rides will be minimal. If you would like to know more about the courses or would like to book a place, please contact Natalie Charlton, Project Officer, Bath and North East Somerset Council, tel: 01225 396539 or email; natalie_charlton@bathnes.gov.uk
